Thanksgiving Prep: Sides Addition

Is it just us or every Thanksgiving do you set out to make a side or two that is new and different than the usual family tradition? Don’t get us wrong, we love the classics. Nothing really says the holidays like looking forward to your family’s favorite dishes, the ones that your aunts, grandpas, or parents have perfected over the years. Those are the best things to have around the table this time of year.

But if you’re like us and want to add in a side or two that is new and sounds too good to pass up, then we have you covered. Actually, to be completely honest, the recipes we are going to be dropping in this post are so good we haven’t even decided which ones to make. We might just make them all, but we can talk about that later.

First, we wanted to start this whole adventure off with something that every well-rounded meal needs but can oftentimes be overlooked: the salad. If your family is anything like ours then you may not have even thought to have a salad at Thanksgiving at all, but the moms in the room with tell you that it’s good to have a little green to balance everything out. We love this Fall Harvest Salad because it’s not only delicious, it has so many of our fall favorites in it that makes it the perfect thing to have at the Thanksgiving dinner table. The combo of romaine, spinach, and arugula is a perfect flavorful base, while the toppings all add color and amazing flavor. Now, we know salad dressing isn’t always fun to make from scratch, but this one is worth it. Plus, it’s great to keep in your back pocket, it’s that good! The subtle sage flavor pulls this salad together in all the best fall ways. This salad will not only balance out your dinner table, but it will look beautiful doing it.

Next up, we made Herb Dinner Rolls. Not just any rolls, but the fluffiest, most delicious herb and garlic infused dinner rolls there ever were. Seriously you guys, this was a big deal for us. We’ve never attempted making bread from scratch, so we were really nervous about the whole ordeal. We are so glad we took the chance. Not only was it much simpler than we were expecting, but they turned out SO good. The herb combo that comes together in this recipe is so heavenly mixed with the perfect balance of garlic.

When we got into making the bread, we were nervous. So we did lots of research, read a lot of blogs, and listened to a lot of different advice. We think that our recipe is pretty foolproof and makes making bread so fun!

Now if you are still in the market for some more sides, we have a few favorites. These Scalloped Sweet Potatoes are honestly some of the best potatoes we have ever had, they are perfectly creamy and cheesy and absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a potato dish that is a little bit on the healthier side, these Crispy Roasted Rosemary Yams are so flavorful, and as an added bonus they are simple to throw together. Our Roasted Brussel Sprouts are decadent and will have everyone eating their veggies. Last but not least, stuffing! We know you may already have a good stuffing recipe, but we couldn’t resist putting this out there. Our Ciabatta, Sausage and Herb Stuffing is so good. It’s a staple around all of our dinner tables around this time of year.Well, there are a lot more recipes where those came from! Head over to our website to find all kinds of other sides that can get you feeling inspired and ready for this Thanksgiving season!

Happy Cooking!
